What a wonderful visit of learning and mentoring with the AEA Team (Houda, Ismail and Mohammed) in Accra on Saturday 27–It’s been an incredible journey for me with the AEA!
I’m ever grateful to the fabulous Prof. Esi Sutherland Addy, Board Chair, Afram Publications who hosted us in their office in Abofo, Achimota. Thanks also to AkooBooks Board Members Akosua Busia and Kwaku Boateng Ankomah and our wonderful friends and partners: Smartline Publishing, Edify Ghana, Ghana Book Publishers Association and of course to our superb AkooBooks Narrators: Rashid Can Tamakloe, Agbeko Mortty and Veronica Bain-Derby for their continued support.
The team had a chance to speak with all of us and meet my inspiration for AkooBooks Audio, my lovely mother Nana Dadson, 86 a Ghanaian children’s book writer. My mother lost her vision about 10 years ago which really catalyzed my vision to use technology to help her and other visually impaired persons to read African books independently.

Talking through the vision, business idea, operational plans and financial projections with the AEA Team was a tremendous experience. For many it was a chance to learn more about the ins and outs of the audiobook industry.

The evening finished with a visit to the three recording studio ‘shells’. With money from the AEA Award, we can equip all of these rooms with recording equipment, hire sound engineers and continue to build our top notch catalogue.
My dream to provide a digital platform and experience for African audiobooks is burning bright!! I’m keeping my fingers crossed and palms firmly pressed for Morocco!
